35 and Single
Paula captures in these substantial 7 minutes the daily conceptual work of what a woman who chooses to remain single at 35 must endure. This isn’t a complaint, a reflection, or a new way of viewing feminism. No. These are simply valid questions that frighten many women without solid foundation in the 21st century. Questions about prejudices established by society, which Paula knows how to resolve throughout the short, narrated in her “passable” English.
Why Society Still Fears Single Women
The problem is not solitude itself, but the fear society projects onto single people. Advice disguised as concern, motivational content disguised as empowerment and endless discussions about biological clocks have transformed being single into something people constantly feel forced to justify.
The only thing I can say from this side of the street is that self-help videos have badly “miseducated” our emotions to such a degree that you’ll probably end up expecting more. I’d recommend watching it with the substance that real life brings. Common sense.
